JIANTO ROBO ,or, "Giant Robot" produced by the TOEI Company originally ran from October 1967 to April 1968 on Japanese television for 26 episodes.In 1969 American International Television brought it to the states with overdubs, renaming it JOHNNY SOKKO AND HIS FLYING ROBOT.Initially in syndication in just a few areas, the show eventually became one of the most popular syndicated shows on TV during the years 1971-1974, and was broadcast on several stations in every major market in the states, and nearly every secondary market as well.Even though the show consisted of just 26 episodes and was dubbed in English the show remained popular enough to remain in rotation throughout most of the 80's.
The show revolves around the heroes ,Unicorn, and their fight against the evil alien terrorists Big Fire aided by Johnny who voice-controls Giant Robot in their battles with the alien controlled monsters.
In 1970 , four episodes were edited into a feature length film titled VOYAGE INTO SPACE,which was also syndicated out for television airplay.You can watch the film in the video below.

Oddly, for as popular as the show was there was very little cross-promotional items for the US market.
In the 1990's, perhaps to quell the the massive amount of bootlegs available Orion released several volumes on VHS tape.
Recently the entire series has been released on a 7 disc set from MGM on-demand.
