ADDAMS FAMILY animated series -- 1973
In 1973 Hanna Barbera brought the ADDAMS FAMILY to Saturday morning in animated form for a total of 16 episodes and had an original run from September 1973 to May 1974..This series was a departure from the live action show in that the family takes off on the road in their version of an RV and the adventures they have along the way. Most of the action takes place in the United States, but several episodes have them on ocean liners and one even revolving around them buying a piece of property on the moon.
Voice over characterizations were provided by two original ADDAMS FAMILY actors, Jackie Coogan as UNCLE FESTER, and Ted Cassidy as LURCH.Lennie Weinrib, who had previously provided the voice of HR PUFNSUF gives a great turn as both creepy and darkly hilarious GOMEZ, and a very young Jodie Foster, still three years from her breakout role in TAXI DRIVER provides the voice of Addams son PUGSLEY!

A few tie-ins:
At the time, Charlton Comics held exclusive licensing rights to all Hanna Barbera shows, however since THE ADDAMS FAMILY itself was a licensed property to Hanna Barbera they were unable to secure the rights, and the rights went to Gold Key Comics.
Gold Key released a total of only three issues cover dated October 1974 to April 1975, all of which held at least one adaptation of an episode. The writer on the issues is speculated to be Mark Evanier, and the art, signed "Bill Ziegler", is thought to be a pseudonym for the legendary Dan Spiegle.
In October 2010, the complete series was released on a 4 disc set by the WARNER ARCHIVES on their manufacture-on-demand service.
