WONDERBUG -- 1976
WONDERBUG was a part of Sid and Marty Krofft's KROFFT SUPER SHOW and ran in 12 to 15 minute segments over the course of two seasons from September 1976 to October 1977 with a total 22 episodes. The stories revolved around three teenage amateur crime solvers and their beat up old dunebuggy, Schlepcar, which would help them in their cases in it's alter ego as the super powered Wonderbug.Of the actors in the main cast perhaps best known is John Anthony Bailey who played CC. Bailey had an extensive career , appearing in shows such as M*A*S*H,Happy Days, and Good Times and had roles in such movies as The Kentucky Fried Movie and Love At First Bite.It was his work from the 80's and up that he is most remember by, though, when he changed his name to Jack Baker and would go on to perform in approximately 140 hardcore pornographic films, many alongside an underage Traci Lords.Bailey/Baker died in 1994 of bladder cancer at age 47.

As with all Krofft shows, a flurry of cross-promotional items were marketed for the show and WONDERBUG had possibly the coolest and most expensive item ever for a Krofft character---an actual Wonderbug pedal car that kids could ride in.
More goodies:
Of course, you can't have a Krofft show without the comic book tie-in. Gold Key ran 6 issues cover dated April 1978 to January 1979, with reprints and alternate numbers and covers under the Gold Key budget moniker, Whitman.
Several episodes have been released on the the home video market in both videotape and dvd formats over the years as stand alone videos or as part of larger collections of Krofft shows.
